Dealing with cold and rainy conditions on the first day of the Cerritos Invitational, the team was still able to perform well on Friday. The Falcons posted 15 top 10 finishes in the nine events in which they competed, which included one first place, two second place and three third place finishes. A full slate of events will take place on the second day at Falcon Stadium.

In the 400 meters, freshman Bria Palmer (J.W. North HS) earned a first place finish with her time of 59.79, while freshman Adriana Velasco (Downey HS) completed the 1500 meters in 5:03.17 to come in second place out of 17 runners. Distance runner Brianna Gill (La Serna HS) earned a third place finish in the 5000 meters when she turned in a time of 20:45.95, with hurdlers Giselle Burgos (El Rancho HS) and Kassandra Herrera (El Rancho HS) placing second (1:07.73) and third place (1:09.09), respectively.

Also coming in third place was sophomore Michannai Wright (Paramount HS) in the long jump with a distance of 4.85 meters, with the Falcons also taking sixth and seventh places. A quartet of Cerritos javelin throwers finished fourth through seventh places, led by sophomore Destiny Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS), with a distance of 33.04 meters, with freshman Ashley Flores (California HS) placing sixth at 31.65 meters, as she joined the team after completing the season with the basketball team.

Sprinter Nylia Hudspeth (Kennedy HS) came in fifth place in the 200 meters with a time of 24.77, which was ahead of all other community college entries, while her time of 12.47 in the 100 meters put her in 12th place out of 40 entries.
