On the second day of a cold and dreary Cerritos Invitational, the women's track and field team continued to turn in strong results. The Falcons won one event, while coming in second place and fourth place in four other events. Next Thursday through Saturday, the team will send representatives to the Oregon Relays, while others will remain home and compete at the Mt. San Antonio Relays, which will take place at Falcon Stadium.

Sophomore thrower Destiny Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS) earned a pair of second place finishes on the day. Her shot put of 13.92 meters was shy of first place Tiffany Gilmore, an unattached entry who competed at Fresno State University and was the Mountain West Conference champion, who turned in a distance of 14.03 meters, while Talalemotu posted a discus throw of 43.51 meters, but trailed unattached entry TeRina Keenan, a New Zealand athlete who competed in the 2015 World Championships, and won the event with a throw of 55.54 meters.

In the triple jump, sophomore Michannai Wright (Paramount HS) placed fourth with a leap of 10.70 meters, with freshman Miranda Valentin (Bellflower HS) taking sixth place at 10.31 meters. Freshman Bria Palmer (J.W. North HS) took fourth place in the high jump when she cleared 1.56 meters.

The Falcons 1600-meter relay team came in first place with a time of 3:51.18, while the 400-meter relay team posted a time of 46.94 and was edged out of first place by Colorado State University's time of 46.06. Sophomore Maria Orosco (Katella HS) earned fourth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.25, while sophomore sprinter Najia Hudspeth (Kennedy HS) barely missed out on winning the 400 meters. She turned in a second place time of 55.19, just behind Colorado State's Emily Romo and her time of 55.00.
