The Cerritos College women's track and field team won four individual events on Saturday at the Point Loma Nazarene University Invitational, which helped them come in first place as a team. The Falcons finished with 216 points, which was more than the other 17 teams that competed. The team will now travel on Saturday to San Diego for the Arnie Robinson Invitational.

Highlighting the day were first place finishes by Nylia Hudspeth (Kennedy HS), Bria Palmer (J.W. North HS) and Juanita Webster (Redlands HS), who won a pair of events. Hudspeth turned in a first place time of 56.34 in the 400 meters, while runners Rabia Hawes (Long Beach Wilson HS) and Tyler Simpson (Dominguez HS) finished in eighth (58.97) and ninth (58.97) places, respectively out of 27 entries. Palmer saved her best high jump for last, as she cleared 1.67 meters to win the event.

As for Webster, she recorded the second fastest time in the 100-meter HH at 14.18 to come in first place. The school record of 13.90 was turned in by Alexus Dalton in 2014. She also posted the second best triple jump in school history with her leap of 12.17 to easily win and is closing in on the record of 12.65 meters by Jessica Barfield in 2009. Webster placed second in the long jump at 5.61 meters, with freshman Lilian Ebanks (Valencia HS) turned in a third place jump of 5.56 meters.

Ebanks ran the 100 meters in 11.95 to come in third place out of 46 entries, while freshman Meka Story (Gahr HS) placed fifth in the 200 meters (25.42), with Simpson checking in with a seventh place time of 25.95. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Elsa Vazquez-Vallin (Warren HS) finished in seventh place in a time of 12:24.85, while in the field events, sophomore Nikki Yanez (Downey HS) recorded a discus throw of 36.92 to come in eighth place.

After playing the season with the Falcons women's basketball team, both Ashley Flores (California HS) and Miranda Valentin (Bellflower HS) officially joined the track team. Flores competed in the javelin (28.57 meters; 14th place) and shot put (7.82 meters; 29th place), while Valentin will triple jump in the next meet.
