On Saturday, the Cerritos College women's track and field team won five events at the Arnie Robinson Invitational, which was held at San Diego Mesa College. That location also serves as the site for next month's CCCAA State Championships. This Tuesday and Wednesday, the Falcons will have six of the 12 entries in the Southern California Heptathlon Championships, which will be held at Cerritos College. The team boasts freshmen Juanita Webster (Redlands HS) and Lilian Ebanks (Valencia HS), who have recorded the top two point totals in the state so far this season.

At the invitational, Webster came in first place in the high jump at 1.65 meters, with teammate Bria Palmer (J.W. North HS) placing second at 1.60 meters and Ebanks (1.55 meters) tying for third place. Sophomore Destiny Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS) earned a pair of first place and third place finishes on the day. She won the shot put with a toss of 13.56 meters, while her hammer throw of 51.93 meters was also the second best in school history. She finished in third place in the discus (49.40 meters) and javelin (35.65 meters), with Sarah Baker (Paramount HS) finishing in fourth place in the javelin at 33.12 meters.

Freshman Miranda Valentin (Bellflower HS) came in second place in the triple jump at 10.60 meters, with Michannai Wright(Paramount HS) earning fourth place at 10.44 meters. In the pole vault, sophomore Erica Davis (Fountain Valley HS) came in second place when she cleared 3.35 meters on her first attempt.

Sprinter Meka Story (Gahr HS) turned in a fifth place time in the 100 meters at 12.23, while Nylia Hudspeth (Kennedy HS) finished third in the 200 meters at 24.84. In the 400 meters, Tyler Simpson (Dominguez HS) was clocked in 59.40 to finish in fourth place, with the duo of Maria Orosco (Katella HS) and Elsa Vasquez-Vallin (Warren HS) taking the top two spots in the 800 meters. Orosco turned in a time of 2:19.02, with Vasquez-Vallin crossing the finish line in 2:25.17, with Adriana Velasco (Downey HS) posting a third place time in the 1500 meters at 5:03.16. The Falcons also won the 1600-meter relay with a time of 3:53.77.
