On the first day of the Oregon Relays, the Cerritos College women's track and field team took first and second place in one event and had four other top six finishes. On Saturday, the Falcons will take part in more events at one of the nation's most prestigious meets.

Freshman Lilian Ebanks (Valencia HS) Juanita Webster (Redlands HS) made a huge splash in the long jump, as they took first and second places, respectively. Ebanks, who holds the college's fourth best ever long jump (5.93 meters), won the event with a best jump of 5.92 meters, with Webster in second place at 5.85 meters. Webster also holds the fifth best long jump mark (5.86 meters) on the school's top five list. The duo defeated competitors from schools such as the University of Oregon, University of Montana, Portland State University, Boise State University and Northern Colorado University.

Destiny Talalemotu placed third and fourth in two events Also turning in a memorable day was sophomore Destiny Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS), who came in third place in the shot put and fourth place in the discus. Her shot put distance of 14.60 meters was shy of her school record mark of 15.27 meters, but earned her third place. She trailed University of Oregon senior standout Itohan Aikhionbare, who was the Big West Field Athlete of the Year at UC Irvine her junior year. In the discus, Talalemutu (pictured, left) finished fourth with a distance of 48.95 meters, which was just shy of her personal record of 49.40 meters.

Sophomore sprinter Najia Hudspeth (Kennedy HS) recorded a time of 24.57 to place fourth in the 200 meters, with freshman Meka Story (Gahr HS) in 12th place with a clocking of 25.74. In the 1500 meters, sophomore Maria Orosco (Katella HS) posted a time of 4:47.32, which earned her a sixth place finish.
