With just one match remaining in the season, the Cerritos College volleyball team was defeated by visiting Pasadena City College on Friday at Gahr High, 13-25, 18-25, 17-25. The loss dropped the Falcons to 6-14 overall and 5-8 in the South Coast Conference. They close out the season by hosting Los Angeles Harbor at 6:00 p.m. next Wednesday.

One of the best teams in the state, the Lancers opened up leads in each of the three games and held off any rallies by the Falcons. With four players posting at least six kills, Pasadena City had multiple weapons and Cerritos spent the match trying to counter each of them.

The duo of sophomore Latia Peters (Hesperia HS) and freshman Stephanie Ortiz (Huntington Park College Ready Academy HS) posted six kills each, but combined for nine attack errors. Sophomore Brittany Buffington (Bellflower HS) handled the setting duties and dished out eight, with freshman Marissa Sunio (Cerritos HS) also seeing time and adding five, along with two service aces. Ortiz also led the team with 10 digs, while freshman Ashley Castro (Santa Fe HS) finished with nine digs and three service aces.
