Led by a balanced offensive attack, the Cerritos College volleyball team recorded a 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 South Coast Conference win over visiting East Los Angeles College (3-15, 2-10) on Wednesday. The Falcons (6-13, 5-7) have two matches remaining and will host Pasadena City College at 5:00 p.m. on Friday before closing their season out next Wednesday.

In each of the three games, Cerritos fell behind against the Huskies, thanks in part to the attack success of Jessica Delgado (15) kills and Claudia Mosqueda (11 kills). But the Falcons were able to counter with four players at the net, while freshman Yazmin Rios (Paramount HS) posted a season-high seven service aces. Freshman Chelsea James (La Mirada HS) had the majority of her success in the first game and finished the night with a team-high nine kills, while sophomore Andrea Garrett (Cerritos HS) added eight kills.

As the match wore on, sophomore Latia Peters (Hesperia HS) seemed to get stronger and concluded with seven kills (four in the third game) to go along with three block assists, with freshman Stephanie Ortiz (Huntington Park College Ready Academy HS) contributing seven kills and five digs. The duo of sophomore Gloria Chang (Bellflower HS) and freshman Marissa Sunio (Cerritos HS) combined for 30 assists, while Chang led the back row with 16 digs. The Falcons played without the services of regular setter Aniga Aiono (Lakewood HS) and their second-leading attacker Susan Suski (Cerritos HS).
