UPDATE: The DH against Los Angeles Mission College has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 13 at the same time.

Two outs away from defeating host Compton College on Friday, the Cerritos College softball team ended up needing 10 innings to post their 7-3 South Coast Conference win. The Falcons (9-4, 2-1) will now host Los Angeles Mission College on Saturday - weather permitting - in a double header at noon and 2:30 p.m. Compton was looking for just the second win ever in their lifetime series, with the first coming in a 2-1 decision in 2015.

In the top of the 10th inning, sophomore designated player Celeste Carbajal (Mayfair HS) led off with a walk and then advanced to second base when Ayiana Cardenas (Walnut HS) reached on an error. An infield single by sophomore outfielder Jocelyn Doan (Walnut HS) loaded the bases for sophomore third baseman Natalie Basurto (Walnut HS), who laced a two-run double to give Cerritos the lead. Sophomore catcher Jimena Velazquez (Fullerton Union HS) followed with a two-run double of her own to close out the scoring.

Sophomore pitcher Reanna Carranza (El Rancho HS) pitched a complete game and held off a late rally by the Tartars (11-3, 2-1), as she retired Jasmine Flores with two runners on base for the final out. On the day, Carranza (9-4) allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out seven batters.

Cerritos opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Basurto doubled home sophomore outfielder Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS), who led off with a walk. An RBI double by sophomore shortstop Marley Manalo (Walnut HS) gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead, with freshman outfielder Morgan Fontela (Long Beach Millikan HS) bringing home the third run in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly.

Basurto (2-for-6, three RBI), Velazquez (2-for-4, two walks two RBI), Doan (2-for-4) and sophomore first baseman Nadia Landeros (Warren HS/Rio Hondo College), who went 2-for-4, had multiple-hit games for Cerritos.
