After stunning the #1-seeded Fullerton College softball team in the first game of their best-of-3 series on Friday, the Cerritos College softball team saw their season come to an end after 4-2 and 7-1 losses on Saturday. The #9-seeded Falcons (31-14) were looking for their second consecutive trip to the 3C2A State Championships after facing the Hornets in the second round.

Game 1 - Locked in a 2-2 tie through the first two innings, Cerritos saw the top-seeded Hornets score single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to pull out the win. Trailing 2-0 after the first inning, the Falcons were able to tie the game on a two-run single by sophomore outfielder Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS). In the inning, Cerritos was able to load the bases with two outs on consecutive singles by freshman second baseman Ayiana Cardenas (Walnut HS), freshman outfielder Morgan Fontela (Long Beach Millikan HS) and sophomore outfielder Jocelyn Doan (Walnut HS). That set the table for Macias, who lined a base hit the opposite way, which brought home both of the team's runs.

Fullerton scored a single run in the fourth inning, while an error resulted in their other run in the sixth inning.

Along with Macias driving in a pair of runs, sophomore third baseman Natalie Basurto (Walnut HS) and sophomore designated player Celeste Carbajal (Mayfair HS) had a pair of hits. Sophomore pitcher Reanna Carranza (El Rancho HS) allowed four runs (three earned) in suffering the loss.

Game 2 - In the deciding game, the Falcons seemed to run out of steam and were limited to just three hits in the loss that ended their season. The lone run came in the top of the seventh inning on a solo home run by sophomore shortstop Marley Manalo (Walnut HS), her fifth of the year. The other hits came from Doan with a third-inning single, while Fontela singled with out out in the sixth inning.
