Sophomore pitcher Reanna Carranza (El Rancho HS) scattered five hits, as the Cerritos College softball team posted a 1-0 South Coast Conference win at Pasadena City College on Thursday. The win improves the Falcons overall record to 13-7, while they are now 5-4 in conference play. The team will get right back at it on Friday at 1:00 p.m. when they host Compton College in another conference game.

Carranza (13-7) gave up a leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning, but a pair of ground balls and a strikeout ended the Lancers first chance at getting on the board. She went on to strike out the side in the second inning and held off Pasadena City in the fourth inning after they had runners on first and second base. She finished off the game, thanks in part to a double play in the bottom of the seventh inning and posted her eighth strikeout of the day for the final out.

It was the sixth shutout of the season for Carranza.

Cerritos scored the game's lone run in the top of the second inning, as freshman designated player Natalie Fraijo (Charter Oak HS) led off with a double and moved to third base on a single from sophomore first baseman Celeste Carbajal (Mayfair HS). With the bases loaded and one out, Fraijo came home on a sacrifice fly from sophomore outfielder Jazmine Macias (La Mirada HS).

The Falcons were limited to five hits, with sophomore catcher Jimena Velazquez (Fullerton Union HS) reaching base three times, thanks to a hit and a pair of walks.
