After the first 21 minutes of their South Coast Conference women's soccer game at Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Cerritos College women's soccer team was already leading, 4-0 against ECC Compton Center. The Falcons (7-0-1) would add another goal before halftime and then tacked on one more in the second half, en route to a 6-0 victory. With the latest rankings just released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Cerritos has held firmly on the #3 national ranking. They will play their ninth straight game on the road to start the season when they face El Camino College in a 2:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday.

In the win over the Lady Tartars, the Falcons received a pair of goals from freshman Jasmine Cornejo (Artesia HS), who accounted for the first and last goals of the game, while sophomore Lauren Nanez (La Mirada HS) assisted on three goals while adding one tally, while freshman Claudia Ibarra (Universidad de Guadaljara HS) scored once and assisted on two more.

The scoring opened in the 11th minute with Nanez taking the ball down the right side and crossed the ball back into box for Cornejo, who scored into the far post. Only two minutes later, Nanez started the offense going along the ride sideline, where she connected with sophomore Gaby Zamarripa (Artesia HS) at the penalty kick spot and she drove the ball home. The Falcons struck two more times in less than a two-minute span when Zamarripa brought the ball down midfield and slid past the defense to a streaking Ibarra, who found herself alone in front of the goalkeeper for a easy goal. Ibarra and Nanez played give-and-go just a minute later, with Nanez scoring the goal.

In the first half, freshman goalkeeper Maria Santoyo (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) was not asked to make a save, while sophomore Sandra Coto (Paramount HS) came on in the second half and turned away the only shot she faced, with the two sharing the shutout.

Before the end of the first half, freshman Jennifer Torres (Firebaugh HS) picked up a goal after Nanez dribbled around three defenders and sent the ball to the back of the 6-yard box for Tores to score. The lone goal in the second half was scored by Cornejo in the 65th minute, where she was spotted by Ibarra, and scored into the far post.
