In their first meeting against Long Beach City College, the Cerritos College women's soccer team didn't play one of their better games of the season and it resulted in their only loss of the year. On Friday, the Falcons (15-1-2, 10-1-1) avenged that loss with a 3-0 South Coast Conference win that secures their lead atop the standings, while they remain ranked #4 in the nation, #3 in the state and #2 in Southern California. Cerritos will now play a 2:00 p.m. game at Pasadena City College on Tuesday before closing out their regular season on Friday  when they host Mt. San Antonio College.

Freshman Claudia Ibarra (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) scored a pair of first half goals to get the team out to a quick 2-0 lead, with sophomore Lauren Nanez (La Mirada HS) and sophomore Julissa Castaneda (San Pedro HS) each earning an assist. In the second half, Nanez scored an insurance goal in the 82nd minute on a feed from freshman Jazmin Aguas (San Pasqual HS).

Cerritos outshot Long Beach City by a 23-5 margin, with sophomore goalkeeper Maria Santoyo (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) posting five saves to earn her seventh shutout of the season.
