The duo of sophomores Lauren Nanez (La Mirada HS) and Gaby Zamarripa (Artesia HS) each scored a pair of goals to lead the Cerritos College women's soccer team to a 7-1 South Coast Conference win over Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday. The win improves the Falcons record to 11-1-2 overall and 6-1-1 in SCC play. They will host ECC Compton Center at 4:00 p.m. in their second of four straight conference games on Tuesday.

Despite the lopsided score and domination that Cerritos held throughout the game, it was a 1-1 score with 12 minutes left in the first half after the Seahawks Marissa Martin scored on freshman goalkeeper Maria Santoyo (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) with a perfectly placed free kick from 30 yards out. Earlier in the half, Nanez scored her first goal since coming back from an injury when she chipped home a pass from freshman Cristal Yantuche (Lakewood HS). LA Harbor goalkeeper Zuri Moraga came out to try and play the ball, but Nanez beat her to it and had an empty net to score into.

It was a shooting gallery for the Falcons in the second half, as they appeared to score at will against Moraga, who played exceptionally well in spite of allowing seven goals. She made 11 saves on the day, which included four high percentage shots, with two of them being point blank attempts.

After freshman Claudia Lopez (Downey HS) scored on a crossing pass from freshman Jazmin Aguas (San Pascual HS) for a 2-1 lead in the 34th minute, Zamarripa opened the second half by scoring a pair of goals to give Cerritos a 4-1 advantage. Her first came when she dribbled past a trio of LA Harbor defenders and finished the play off with a great move to get around Moraga and had an open net. In the 67th minute, Zamarripa finished off the play with a low header that found the inside corner of the net.

Nanez made it 5-1 in the 72nd minute with a turn-and-shoot goal from about 10 yards out with the ball deflecting off Moraga's hands, and then sophomore Karina Sandoval (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) matched the goal by Martin with a low, line drive direct kick from over 30 yards out that deflected under the crossbar and into the net. The scoring closed out in the final seconds when freshman Leah Wilkins (Gahr HS) recovered from getting kicked in the face and then collided with Moraga to collect her first goal of the season.

Santoyo stepped aside at halftime for sophomore Sandra Coto (Paramount HS), who wasn't asked to make any saves in the first 45 minutes.
