The Cerritos College women's soccer team kept their winning ways going, as they traveled north and posted a 4-0 non-conference win over Foothill College on Friday. The win improved the Falcons record to 4-0-0, as they remain the top-ranked Division III (non-scholarship) school in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA). The team will now travel to San Francisco City College to take on the Rams at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Scoring started in the 28th minute for the Falcons when a scramble ensued in front of the box after a corner kick. Freshman Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) took the initial shot, while the ball bounced to sophomore Lyanna Farran (Bishop Amat HS) from outside the six-yard box. Farran took the shot and scored through five defenders for her first goal of the season. About two minutes later, freshman Clara Gomez (El Modena HS) received the ball in the middle of the field, turned and played the ball to freshman Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS), who ran past the defense. Ornelas continued on her run, where she was faced with the Foothill goal and scored.

Five minutes into the second half, Cerritos took a 3-0 lead when Gomez controlled the ball on the right side of the box, where she spotted sophomore Claudia Lopez (Downey HS) at the back post and Lopez one-timed the ball into the net for a spectacular play. The scoring closed out in the 61st minute when Requejo found sophomore April Juarez (Bishop Amat HS/USC) from a short corner. Juarez dribbled through two defender on the end line outside the 18-yard box, where she connected with Gomez at the back of the six-yard box and shot across the goal for her first of the year.

Freshmen goalkeeper Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) started the game and made one save before sophomore Alexis Carrillo (Bishop Amat HS) came on in the second half to secure the shutout with a pair of saves.
