When you have a team loaded with players who can score, coupled with the amount of team speed the Cerritos College women's soccer team possess, it's difficult to contain every player. The Falcons (7-0-0, 1-0-0), who are ranked #1 in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America among Division II (non-scholarship) schools, had five different players score in their 9-0 South Coast Conference opener against Los Angeles Harbor College (3-5-0, 0-1-0) on Tuesday. The team will now host ECC Compton Center at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

Leading the way for Cerritos in the win were a trio of players that recorded multiple points. Sophomore forward Jasmine Cornejo (Artesia HS) accounted for four assists, including helpers on the final three goals of the game, while sophomore forward Claudia Lopez (Downey HS) scored three times and assisted on another. Freshman forward Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS) was not to be outdone, as she scored twice and had assists on four other goals.

After leading 3-0 at intermission, with Lopez scoring twice, the team came out in the second half and just wore down the Seahawks, who were unable to keep up with the speed of the Falcons. It took them just 1:43 in the second half to score, with Ornelas finding the back of the net, while Cerritos then scored three more times in the span of 6:31 to lead, 7-0.

The goalkeeper tandem of sophomore Alexis Carrillo (Bishop Amat HS) and freshman Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) were not asked to make a single save in the game. In addition, freshman forward Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) scored twice, as the Falcons outshot LA Harbor, 15-0.
