After the first 45 minutes of their South Coast Conference match, the Cerritos College women's soccer team held a slim 1-0 lead over host Pasadena City College. The Falcons (12-0-0, 6-0-0), who are ranked #1 in the country, broke out for four second half goals to post a 5-0 win over the Lancers (3-5-4, 1-3-2). On Tuesday, Cerritos will host third place Mt. San Antonio College in a 4:00 p.m. conference match.

The first half goal by sophomore Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS) came about in the 19th minute when sophomore April Juarez (Bishop Amat HS/USC) received the ball at midfield. She then fed the ball past the Lancer defense, where Ornelas made a quick move to get around the keeper and scored into the net.

Prior to that goal, Cerritos had a chance to take an earlier lead, but freshman Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) missed her first penalty kick of the season. But she would come back in the second half and score the team's second goal and assist on their fourth goal. Her goal came in the 60th minute when Requejo controlled a deflected shot by sophomore Jennifer Torres (Firebaugh HS) and scored when on an unattended shot.

The scoring continued 10 minites later when Juarez sent in a corner kick into the box, where freshman Celinna Montano (Warren HS) squared her shoulders and scored on a one-timer. Sophomore Claudia Lopez (Downey HS) kept the second half scoring onslaught going in the 75th minute when she sent the ball to Requejo to the right side of the field. Requejo quickly spotted Juarez and crossed it to her, where she scored into the far post. Juarez closed out the scoring in the 75th minute, and completed her four-point game, when she scored on a beautiful free kick from the left side of the box that sailed over the keeper's head.

Offensively, the Falcons pelted the Pasadena City goalkeepers with 20 shots, while the tandem of sophomore Alexis Carrillo (Bishop Amat HS) and freshman Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) were only required to make three saves.
