For the fifth game in a row - and seventh time on the year - the Cerritos College women's soccer team held their opponent scoreless. On Friday, the Falcons (10-0-0, 4-0-0) remained perfect on the year with a 4-0 South Coast Conference win over East Los Angeles College. The team, ranked #1 in the country, state and Southern California, will travel to Long Beach City College on Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. conference game.

Cerritos scored all four of their goals in the first half and needed less than four minutes to strike first. Finding a weakness in the Huskies (3-5-2, 0-2-2) defense, sophomore defender Alyssa Cabral (Bishop Amat HS) lofted a pass that sophomore Claudia Lopez (Downey HS) ran under and she powered a shot past goalkeeper Bobbie Perez.

In the 18th minute, sophomore April Juarez (Bishop Amat HS/USC) dribbled through three defenders after receiving a throw-in from sophomore Jasmine Cornejo (Artesia HS). Juarez worked through the defense and put a hard shot on goal that deflected off Perez's hands and into the net. Seven minutes later, freshman Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS) used her speed to get around the ELAC defense and fed Lopez, who got off a quick shot. Perez made the initial save, but freshman Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) was situated in front of the net and chipped the ball in for a 3-0 lead.

Prior to the end of the first half, sophomore Jennifer Torres (Firebaugh HS) fed freshman Krista Velasco (Downey HS), who scored when her shot cleared the keeper's outstretched hands. Sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Carrillo (Bishop Amat HS) was asked to make just one save in the first half, while freshman Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) posted a pair of soft saves in the second half.
