On the heels of winning their second straight National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) and CCCAA State Championship, the Cerritos College women's soccer team has announced that six of their sophomores have signed scholarships. The Falcons, who completed their season with a 24-0-1 record, culminated the year with a dominant 3-0 win over Santiago Canyon College in the state championship game. It was the second year in a row that Cerritos defeated the Hawks in the finals.

The list of sophomores includes National Player of the Year Claudia Lopez, who signed with UC Irvine. Lopez was also named 1st Team All-American, State Tournament Player of the Year and South Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Joining Carrillo in signing were forward/defender Jasmine Cornejo and midfielder Lyanna Farran, who both signed with Cal Poly Pomona, defender Alyssa Cabral with Cal State Fullerton, forward Jennifer Torres with Kansas Wesleyan University and goalkeeper Alexis Carrillo with Newberry (SC) College.

Lopez finished the season with a team-high 27 goals, including two in the state championship game, and 16 assists. Her 70 points are the third most in school history behind Monique Cisneros, who had 82 in 2008 and Corina Villegas, who had 81 points in 2007. The 27 goals are the fourth most in a season Falcon history, while her 16 assists are tied for the seventh most. As for Cabral, she was a two-time 2nd Team All-American selection, as well as the conference Defensive Player of the Year two seasons in a row. She was the anchor of the defense that allowed just 10 goals all year and recorded one assist on the season.

Carrillo, a 1st Team All-Amercian, she concluded the season 17-0-1 and had an 0.43 goals against average while surrendering seven goals on the year. She posted five shutouts by herself and shared in 11 more during the season. Torres finished the season with nine goals and four assist, which included a five-goal game against ECC Compton Center. Cornejo was a 1st Team All-SCC selection and was a very versatile player who was effective at both ends of the field. A solid defensive player, she also posted three goals and eight assists, while Farran was very aggressive in the midfield and accounted for a goal and assist.
