Looking to avoid their second consecutive tie, the Cerritos College women's soccer team received a late goal to post a 2-1 non-conference win at Las Positas College on Saturday morning. With the game knotted at 1-1, freshman Heidi Snyder (Mayfair HS) won the game with a goal early in extra time to give the Falcons (1-0-1) their first win of the season. They will travel to Irvine Valley College on Friday for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game.

On the game-winning goal, sophomore Megan Chelntzos (Beckman HS/Colorado Christian University) threw the ball in and it bounced around deep in Las Positas territory. Snyder, who was in a cluster of players in front of the net, was able to get enough of the ball and her shot secured the win for the Falcons.

Cerritos took an early lead when freshman Natalie deLeon (St. Joseph HS) sent a crossing pass to freshman Jamie Peters (Bishop Amat HS), who finished the play with her second goal of the season. Las Positas tied the game at 1-1 in the 38th minute on a Falcon turnover. The Hawks player was able to dribble through and past freshman goalkeeper Ruby Nichols (Bishop Amat HS) for the goal. Nichols made three saves on the day.
