Thanks to an aggressive offensive attack, the Cerritos College women's soccer team was able to post their second straight shutout. The Falcons took 29 shots and found the back of the net six times in a 6-0 South Coast Conference win over visiting Pasadena City College on Friday. Because of the heat index, the game was stopped at the 22nd minute in each half for a three-minute water break. Cerritos (9-0-2, 4-0-0) scored three of their goals after those breaks, while the Lancers needed the rest, as they only had 12 players in uniform.

Freshman Carolina Jaramillo (Cetis 58, Tijuana HS) played her best game of the season, as she scored three goals, including the first two of the game. Additionally, freshman Amber Whitmore (Los Alamitos HS) added two early second half goals, with freshman Jamie Peters (Bishop Amat HS) accounting for the final goal to go along with her two assists. Cerritos controlled the ball for all but a few minutes in the second half and did not allow the Lancers a shot in the final 45 minutes.

Jaramillo opened the scoring in the fourth minute when she deflected the crossing pass by Peters and shipped the ball past Pasadena City goalkeeper Monica Rogers. In the 30th minute, Jaramillo lined up for a direct kick from about 25 yards out and saw her line drive go through the hands of Rogers for her second goal.

Whitmore continued the goal scoring with a pair in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Peters saw her elude the Lancers defense and was alone in front of the net, where she directed a low shot into the net. Freshman Adriana Velasquez (Long Beach Jordan HS) worked the ball inside the box and fed Whitmore, who picked up her second goal of the game with another low shot inside the near post.

Jaramillo completed her hat trick in the 77th minute when she fought off two PCC defenders and Rogers on front of the net, and finished the play with an open net goal. Peters was able to finish off the scoring in the 73rd minute after freshman Laura Aquije (Warren HS) sent a ball over defenders. The shot by Peters was sent to Rogers, who was unable to maintain possession of the ball and it rolled into the net.

After making four saves in the first half, freshman goalkeeper Ruby Nichols (Bishop Amat HS) wasn't asked to do much in the second half and earned her fourth shutout of the season.
