As the season continues to progress, the Cerritos College women's soccer team is getting more and more familiar with their system. A team with only one returning player that saw action last season, the Falcons have had a hard time adjusting to all of the new faces. It was evident once again in the Falcons 3-1 South Coast Conference win at Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday. The team trailed 1-0 with less than 15 minutes remaining until they scored three times to pull out the win.

With time running out in the game, the pressure they had been putting on the Seahawks eventually wore them down and the Falcon players used their speed to finish scoring chances that they missed out on early in the game. In the 78th minute, freshman Carolina Jaramillo (Cetis 58, Tijuana) moved into the attacking zone and got off a shot that was turned away. However, on the rebound, freshman Natalie deLeon (St. Joseph HS) was in the right spot and finished it to tie the game.

Just four minutes later, a couple of quick passes led to the eventual game-winning goal. deLeon fed a pass to freshman Graciela Lopez (Downey HS), who quickly reversed the ball and saw her shot from the 18-yard box elude LA Harbor goalkeeper Cynthia Prado for a goal. The Falcons added an insurance goal in the 89th minute when the ball was shot across the goal. Controlling the ball was freshman Jamie Peters (Bishop Amat HS), who was situated at the back post. She then crossed the ball on the ground to the top of the 6-yard box, where Jaramillo deposited it onto the left corner.

Cerritos peppered Prado with 11 shots in the first half and then four more in the second half. But it was the proximity of the shots in the second half that produced goals. Freshman goalkeeper Ruby Nichols (Bishop Amat HS) stood tall and posted four saves.
