In their final non-conference game, the Cerritos College women's soccer team posted a 4-1 win on Saturday. The match also marked their first home appearance of the season, with the Falcons (5-0-2) welcoming Long Beach City College at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday in their South Coast Conference opener.

In the win over the Pirates (1-5-2), Cerritos surrendered a quick goal to fall behind in the fourth minute of the game on a corner kick. They rebounded a little over 10 minutes later when freshman Jackie Garcia (Paramount HS) tied the game on a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. From that point forward, both teams spent the better part of the game looking for the tie-breaker.

As they have in recent years, Cerritos had some extra energy late in the game and scored three second half goals, with two of them coming in the final three minutes of the contest. The eventual game-winner came in the 71st minute, as sophomore Malia Tilton (El Modena HS) sent a pass toward the net toward freshman Carolina Jaramillo (Cetis 58, Tijuana). She was able to play the ball off her body and scored her first goal of the season.

Freshman Natalie deLeon (St. Joseph HS) took it upon herself to put the game out of reach in the final minutes, as she accounted for both goals. In the 87th minute, deLeon took advantage of a ball that was fumbled by the Ventura goalkeeper. Acting quickly, deLeon jumped on the loose ball and buried into the back of the net. Her second goal of the game came two minutes later when she received a crossing pass on the ground and chipped it into the goal.
