After what could be considered a slow start by the Cerritos College women's soccer team, the squad won their sixth game in a row on Tuesday, as they shut out host Mt. San Antonio College, 3-0. The Falcons (8-0-2, 3-0-0), ranked #2 in the country by the NSCAA, opened the season with a 2-0-2 record. But during their six-match win streak, the team has allowed just five goals while scoring 19 goals. They will look to extend their streak on Friday at 4:00 p.m. when they host Pasadena City College.

It was a scoreless first half against Mt. SAC (2-7-0, 1-2-0), but Cerritos made some halftime adjustments that paid dividends early in the second half. Just two minutes in, the team put pressure on the Mounties and forced a foul just outside the 18-yard box. Freshman Jackie Garcia (Paramount HS) stepped up and drilled a shot into the upper corner of the net to put the team on the board.

The Falcons continued to be the aggressor, but weren't able to get many shots on net. They saw their hard work come to fruition twice over a 10-minute span to put some distance between themselves and the Mounties.

In the 65th minute freshman Amber Whitmore (Los Alamitos HS) moved the ball deep into Mt. SAC territory, where she sent a through ball to the team's leading scorer, freshman Natalie deLeon (St. Joseph HS), who chipped the ball past goalkeeper Cassidy Mount. They closed out the scoring in the 75th minute when freshman Graciela Lopez (Downey HS) took a perfect corner kick that was headed into the goal by sophomore Megan Chlentzos (Beckman HS/Colorado Christian University).

Freshman goalkeeper Ruby Nichols (Bishop Amat HS) posted her third shutout on the season, as she turned away five Mt. SAC shots.
