The Cerritos College women's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to 34 games (31-0-3) after a 5-1 South Coast Conference win against visiting Los Angeles Harbor College on Tuesday. Ranked #2 in the country and the state, the Falcons (13-0-3, 8-0-1) will now host Mt. San Antonio College at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Attacking the Seahawks defense from the opening whistle, Cerritos received an early corner kick for their effort. Freshman Carolina Jaramillo (Cetis 58, Tijuana HS) sent the ball toward the net, where sophomore Megan Chlentzos (Beckman HS/Colorado Christian College) reacted the a loose ball in front of the goal and scored into an empty corner of the net in the second minute of the game.

It was another set piece that gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead in the 10th minute, as freshman Natalie deLeon (St. Joseph HS) headed home the corner kick from Jaramillo. Before the end of the first half, freshman Amber Whitmore (Los Alamitos HS) was able to head home a ball that deflected off the cross bar from a Jamie Peters (Bishop Amat HS) shot.

Cerritos had numerous opportunities to add to their lead in the first and second half, but rushed their shots, or chipped them right at LA Harbor goalie Cynthia Prado. The Falcons took 23 shots, with only 10 of them on goal.

In the second half, LA Harbor was able to get a goal against freshman Ruby Nichols (Bishop Amat HS) in the 61st minute, as Melissa Diaz dropped a shot over the outstretched hands of Nichols. A little over four minutes later, the Falcons got the goal back when freshman Valerie Lopez (Santa Fe HS) lofted her own shot over Prado. The scoring was closed out in the 87th minute, as freshman Whitney Strickland (El Modena HS) finished the play with a goal into an empty part of the net on a nice pass from freshman Kathia Aquino (John Glenn HS).
