The Cerritos College women's tennis team opened their season with a 9-0 win over host Glendale College on Thursday. The Falcons (1-0) used their experience at the top of the ladder to record with win over the Vaqueros. They will look to continue their success on Tuesday when they travel to Riverside City College for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match.

At the top of the singles ladder, sophomores Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) and Anastasia Khomyachenko (Sochi, Russia) earned wins, while the teamed for an 8-6 victory in doubles play. Heath recorded a 6-2, 6-3 win, while Khomyachenko fought back after losing the first set to post a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win. In the #3 position, freshman Valentina Polonyi (Altisa, Hungary) escaped her first set, 6-4 and followed that with a 6-2 win.

In the final two positions, the duo of Jovana Milosevic (High School of Business and Law, Serbia) and Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) each shut out their opponents, 6-0, 6-0, while the teamed up for an 8-2 doubles victory. Polonyi and doubles partner Tiffany Sanchez (Long Beach Wilson HS) earned an 8-1 doubles win, with Sanchez finishing off Alexa Mendez in singles, 6-3, 6-1.
