Taking on both Riverside City College and the cold winds, the Cerritos College women's tennis team recorded a 7-2 win over the host Tigers on Tuesday. Ranked #2 in Southern California, the Falcons (2-0) swept all six singles matches, but struggled when playing doubles due to the drop in the temperatures and the increase of the cold win. The team will now host Irvine Valley College at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Cerritos earned the team win due to their singles play, as they recorded six straight set wins. At the top of the ladder, sophomore Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) led the way with a 6-3, 6-3 win, while sophomore Anastasia Khomyachenko (Sochi, Russia) helped the cause with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Additionally, freshman Valentina Polonyi (Altisa, Hungary) earned a 6-2, 6-1 in the #3 spot, with freshman Tiffany Sanchez (Long Beach Wilson HS) continuing the team's success with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

Sophomore Jovana Milosevic (High School of Business and Law (Belgrade, Serbia/Hillsborough, FL CC) scored a 6-0 win in the first set and then held off Tiffany Cheek in the second set, 7-5. In the #6 position, freshman Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) capped off the singles sweep with a 7-5, 6-3 win.

In doubles action, the only win came from Heath and Khomyachenko, who had a hard time finishing off Kelli Reynolds and Lacy Patton. They eventually prevailed, 9-7, while the other two doubles teams suffered 8-4 losses.
