In a South Coast Conference match on Thursday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team earned a 9-0 decision against Long Beach City College. The Falcons (7-0, 2-0) remained undefeated on the season with the victory and will now travel to Whittier College on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. match against the NCAA Division III program.

After earning three straight doubles wins in which the team dropped just five games, they transitioned into singles play and continued their success, as they posted six straight set wins.

At the top of the ladder, sophomore Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) earned a 6-2, 6-2 win, while freshmen Valentina Polonyi (Altisa, Hungary) and Tiffany Sanchez (Long Beach Wilson HS) each recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins. The bottom half of the ladder was more of the same, with sophomore Jovana Milosevic (High School of Business and Law, Serbia/Hillsbrough, FL CC) and freshman Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) each coming away with 6-2, 6-0 wins. Singles was concluded with freshman Elizabeth Aceves (Downey HS) winning, 6-1, 6-2.

Doubles action saw all three revamped pairings improving to 3-0 together. Heath and Sanchez were joined by Pastor and Aceves, who won, 8-2, with Polonyi and Milosevic posting an 81- win.

Freshman LBCC player Mimi Mercado, who competed at #3 singles and #2 doubles, played volleyball (1997-98) and softball (1998-99) for the Falcons.
