Playing their third match of the week, the Cerritos College women's tennis team recorded a 9-0 non-conference win over visiting Santa Monica College on Friday. The win by the Falcons (19-1) was a welcome relief after a pair of close 5-4 South Coast Conference decisions earlier in the week. They will travel to Rio Hondo College next Tuesday for a 2:00 p.m. conference match.

The match started with Cerritos sweeping doubles play, and earned two team points because the Corsairs had only five players. The tandem of sophomore Jovana Milosevic (High School of Business and Law, Serbia/Hillsborough, FL CC) and freshman Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) improved to 12-2 as doubles partners with their 8-0 win. In the top match, sophomores Anastasia Khomyachenko (Sochi, Russia) and Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) recorded an 8-4 win.

The play continued to be dominant by the Falcons once singles began, as the bottom four players on the ladder surrendered just four games to Santa Monica. Pastor improved to 19-0 in singles play on the year with her 6-0, 6-0 win in the #4 position, with both Heath and Milosevic losing just one game in their sweep. It was the first time Milosevic played in the #3 position on the ladder.

Freshman Elizabeth Aceves (Downey HS) moved to 8-0 in singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win, while Khomyachenko earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at the top of the ladder.
