Winning five of the six singles matches, the Cerritos College women's tennis team posted a 7-2 South Coast Conference win over visiting El Camino College on Thursday. The win improves the Falcons record to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play. They travel to Grossmont College (3-3) on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match.

Four of the singles matches were finished quickly, as Cerritos surrendered three or less games in each set. Sophomores Anastasia Khomyachenko (Sochi, Russia) and Jovana Milosevic (High School of Business and Law, Serbia/Hillsborough, FL CC) recorded matching 6-1, 6-2 wins in the #2 and #5 positions on the ladder, respectively. Freshman Valentina Polonyi (Altisa, Hungary) continued to play well in singles and recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win, with freshman Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) finishing off Nicole Zwiren in the #6 spot, 6-2, 6-3. Pastor is now 9-0 in singles action this season, while Khomyachenko has not lost in five singles matches.

Freshman Tiffany Sanchez (Long Beach Wilson HS) pulled out a 7-5 win in the first set playing at #3 singles and then went on for a 6-1 win in the second set against Jade Shugars. Sophomore Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS), who just moved to the #1 ranking in the conference in singles play, suffered a tough 4-6, 3-6 loss.

In doubles, Heath and Khomyachenko fought their was to an 8-6 win in the #1 doubles match, with Milosevic and Pastor earning an 8-4 victory.
