Led by freshman first baseman Kylee Brown's (Mayfair HS) grand slam, the Cerritos College softball team posted an 8-0, 5-inning win over host Pasadena City College on Tuesday. The South Coast Conference win by the Falcons improves their record to 16-5 overall and 6-1 in conference play. They will now host El Camino College at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Leading 4-0 heading into the fourth inning, sophomore third baseman Jenny Navarro (Warren HS) and sophomore second baseman Jenny Collazo (Paramount HS) led off the stanza with consecutive singles. Sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Kutzke (Los Alamitos HS/University of Montana) was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. That set the table for Brown, who hit an opposite field home run - her first of the season - to help give the Falcons the 8-run mercy win.

Freshman pitcher Kristen Voller (Norco HS) earned the win by pitching the first three innings and allowed two hits and struck out four batters. Freshman Jissel Caballero (Warren HS), making her first appearance of the season, pitched the final two innings and did not allow a hit.

The Falcons got on the board in the first inning when Collazo tripled home Navarro, who reached on an error. It was a three-run third inning for Cerritos when Navarro led off with a double and advanced to third base on a Collazo single. After Kutzke drew a walk to load the bases, Brown was walked to drive in the first run of the inning. Sophomore outfielder Jezeree Misaalefua (Carson HS/Long Beach CC) reached first base on a dropped sacrifice fly ball, which scored a run. Kutzke, running on the play, was also able to score a run.

Collazo finished the game 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Brown drove in five runs and Navarro added a pair of hits and scored three times.
