Making the most of her one season with the Cerritos College softball team, outfielder Mackenzie Kutzke (Los Alamitos HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Loyola Marymount University. Kutzke, who spent her freshman season at the University of Montana, was one of the Falcons most clutch hitters during the season. She batted .364 on the season and drove in 33 runs with her 44 hits, which included five doubles and five home runs.

Kutzke is the fifth Falcons player to sign with a four-year school and joins outfielder Jezeree Misaalefua (William Penn University), third baseman/pitcher Jenny Navarro (William Penn University) and catcher Jesseca Martinez (William Penn University), as well as shortstop Camille Manzo (University of Charleston).

Playing one of the toughest non-conference schedules of any school in the state, Kutzke led the team with a .414 batting average in out-of-conference games, which included six hits in five post-season games. During the season, Kutzke went 4-for-4 with three RBI against College of the Canyons and drove in three runs in three times over a five-game stretch. She also clubbed a three-hit game and added nine two-hit contests.

Kutzke, who's father Cary won a state championship with the 1982-83 Cerritos men's basketball team, will be joining a softball program that went 32-21 last season and was 10-5 in the West Coast Conference. The Lions are graduating three of their outfielders, including two starters.
