In their regular season finale, the Cerritos College softball team recorded a 6-1 win at Pasadena City College to secure sole possession of second place in the South Coast Conference. The Falcons (28-12, 16-5) will now wait until Saturday to find out where they have been seeded for the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

In the win over the Lancers (20-20, 9-12), Cerritos scored all six of their runs in the top of the second inning. At the same time, freshmen pitchers Kristen Voller (Norco HS) and Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) were limiting PCC to just one run on six hits, while striking out six batters.

In the all-important second inning, Caballero (5-1) singled and advanced to third base on a single by freshman first baseman Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS). After Brown stole second base, sophomore third baseman Jenny Navarro (Warren HS) doubled them both home and then came around to score on a single by sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Kutzke (Los Alamitos HS/University of Montana).

The inning continued when sophomore catcher Jesseca Martinez (Lakewood HS) drew a walk. On the next play, the Lancers tried to turn a double play on a ground ball by sophomore outfielder Jezeree Misaalefua (Carson HS/Long Beach HS). They got the first out, but a throwing error allowed Kutzke to score. Sophomore shortstop Camille Manzo (La Habra HS/Sterling (KS) University) followed with an RBI single, stole second base and then scored on a throwing error on a ground ball by freshman outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS).

Voller allowed just one hit in three innings of work, with Caballero tossing the final four innings and allowed one run on five hits.
