Super Regional Bracket

After dispatching Southwestern College in two games over the weekend, the Cerritos College softball team will be heading to Cypress College this weekend the Super Regional. There are four Super Regionals taking place next weekend, with the winner of each four-team, double-elimination tournament advancing to the CCCAA State Championships at Bakersfield College May 20-22.

The #5-seeded Falcons (30-12) will take on #4-seeded Palomar College (35-5) at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, with the winner advancing to the championship semifinals on Saturday. In the first game of the day on Friday, #1-seeded Cypress (37-5) will host a 1:00 p.m. game against #10-seeded Fullerton College (24-18).

Last season, Palomar won the state championship, while Cypress came in third place.

Cerritos has played both of these teams twice already this season and has a combined 1-5 record, with two of the losses by one run and one by two runs. Their lone win was a 5-3 victory over Fullerton.

They have faced the Comets twice this season and lost by 4-2 and 4-3 scores. Their most recent meeting was on April 20, with Palomar scoring the eventual game-winning run in the fifth inning after the Falcons took a 3-2 lead. Freshman Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS) clubbed a solo home run, while sophomore shortstop Camille Manzo (La Habra HS/Sterling (KS) University) had three hits. The first game was in the very beginning of the season and it included a solo home run by sophomore second baseman Jenny Collazo (Paramount HS), who had a pair of hits.

The other Southern California Super Regional will take place at Santiago Canyon College, while state runner-up College of San Mateo and Fresno City College are hosting in Northern California.
