The Cerritos College softball team scored seven runs in the first inning and then scored in each inning on their way to a 17-0, 5-inning South Coast Conference win over ECC Compton Center on Tuesday. It was the ninth time this season that the Falcons (19-8, 9-2) scored over 10 runs in a game. They will travel to East Los Angeles College on Thursday for a 3:00 p.m. conference game.

The inning started with sophomore second baseman Jenny Collazo (Paramount HS) leading off with a double, with freshman outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) getting hit by a pitch. Sophomore pitcher Jenny Navarro (Warren HS), who tossed a compete game, drove in the first run with a single, with freshman designated player Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) clubbing a two-run double.

After a base hit by sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Kutzke (Los Alamitos HS/University of Montana), another run scored on an infield out by sophomore outfielder Jezeree Misaalefua (Carson HS/Long Beach CC). An outfield error allowed one run to score, with freshman first baseman Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS) driving in another run with an infield single. Collazo brought home the final run of the inning with a sacrifice fly.

The Falcons added five more runs in the second inning, with sophomore third baseman Camille Manzo (La Habra HS/Sterling (KS) University) accounting for an RBI single, followed by a two-run single from sophomore shortstop Raquel Norzagaray (Pioneer HS) and a two-run triple by Collazo.

The starters were not long for the game with the substitutes making the most of their opportunities. In just her second plate appearance of the season, freshman pitcher Kristen Voller (Norco HS) led off the fourth inning with a base hit, while freshman Stephanie Perales (South Gate HS) collected her first hit of the season and drove in two runs.

Freshman Nathalie Mendia (South Gate HS) drove in two runs with a single and double in two plate appearances, while she brought home her second run of the season with a single in the third inning. Brianna Vasquez (Downey HS) scored a pair of runs and reached base three times on the day, while freshman Mercedes Herrera (Cypress HS) collected her second RBI of the year.
