Looking to snap a three-game losing streak, the Cerritos College softball team recorded a 10-0, 5-inning South Coast Conference win over ECC Compton Center on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons (24-10, 12-5) will now host Santiago Canyon College in a non-conference game at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Nancy Kelly Field.

Cerritos scored all of their runs in the first three innings and took advantage of three walks and a hitt batter along the way. In the top of the first inning, sophomore second baseman Jenny Collazo (Paramount HS) led off with a base hit and moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by freshman outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS). Collazo came home on an RBI single from sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Kutzke (Los Alamitos HS/University of Montana).

Although that would be enough offense for starting pitcher Kristen Voller (Norco HS), the Falcons picked up six more runs in the second inning and finished the scoring with three more runs in the third inning. Voller only pitched the first inning, with sophomore Jenny Navarro (Warren HS) coming in to earn the win in the circle.

At the plate, the Falcons loaded the bases in the second inning on two walks and an outfield error. That set the table for Collazo, who drove in a pair with a double, with freshman Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) adding an RBI single. Kutzke followed with an RBI ground out, with Navarro helping her cause with a two-run double to cap off the scoring in the inning.

Caballero drove in two more runs with a double in the third inning, with Navarro getting her third hit and third RBI of the day with a single in the third. Caballero also drove in three runs in the win, while she and Collazo each had a pair of hits.
