Led by two home runs from sophomore second baseman Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS), the Cerritos College softball team posted a 12-5, 5-inning win over visiting East Los Angeles College at Nancy Kelly Field on Tuesday. The win by the Falcons (13-7) was their second in a row and the team will look for three when they host ECC Compton Center in a SCC South Division game at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Cerritos got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. After freshman third baseman Rain Vega (La Mirada HS) drew a walk, freshmen Carly Gutierrez (Santa Fe HS) and Lesley Briseno (Cypress HS) each singled to load the bases. Two of the three runs came in without the benefit of a hit, as freshman outfielder Tatyana Peko (La Habra HS) was hit by a pitch and sophomore first baseman Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) drew a bases loaded walk. Sandwiched between those was an RBI single from sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS).

They loaded the bases again in the bottom of the third inning, with Olivas getting a seven-run stanza started with a three-run double. After Caballero drew a walk, Brown hit the first of her two home runs, a three-run blast that put the Falcons in front, 10-1. Sophomore shortstop Erica Guzman (Enoch HS/William Jessup University)  added a run-scoring single before the end of the inning.

Brown added a solo home run to lead off the fifth inning, with the game ending on an RBI from Briseno, which activated the eight-run mercy rule.

Both Olivas and Brown drove in four runs, while Guzman finished with three hits. Sophomore pitcher Kristen Voller (Norco HS) earned the win by pitching 3 2/3 innings, with Gutierrez stepping in to toss the final 1 1/3 innings.
