Sophomore pitchers Kristen Voller (Norco HS) and Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) combined for a one-hitter, as the Cerritos College softball team posted a 7-0 South Coast Conference win over EC-Compton Center on Thursday. The win by the Falcons improved their overall record to 25-11, while they are 7-3 in South Division play. On Saturday, Cerritos will host an 11:00 a.m. non-conference game against Santiago Canyon College.

The Falcons powered their way past Compton with four home runs, with sophomore shortstop Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS) getting the scoring started with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. It was her 16th on the season, which keeps her tied for second in the state. Voller, who tossed the first four innings to earn the win, clubbed her first home run of the season, a solo blast in the second inning.

It was a 3-0 Cerritos lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when freshman catcher Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS) hit a solo home run. The Falcons added a pair of runs in the fifth inning when freshman outfielder Lesley Briseno (Cypress HS) led off with a single, stole second base and scored on a double by freshman third baseman Rain Vega (La Mirada HS). Sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) added a run-scoring single, which plated Vega.

The scoring concluded in the sixth inning when Lopez led off with a base hit and scored on a home run from freshman designated player Carly Gutierrez (Santa Fe HS).

Voller (12-5) didn't allow a hit in her four innings of work and struck out seven batters. Caballero came on in the fifth inning and surrendered the game's lone hit in the sixth inning. She earned her first save of the season.
