On Thursday, the Cerritos College softball team saw their five-game winning streak come to an end with an 8-2 South Coast Conference South Division loss at El Camino. The setback drops the Falcons (22-10, 4-3) into third place in the division, while the team will host Los Angeles Harbor College at 3:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

Trailing the entire game, Cerritos fell behind 3-0 after two innings, but got one back in the top of the third inning. The first place Warriors (28-5, 7-0) added to their lead by scoring in their final three trips to the plate. Sophomore pitcher Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) pitched the entire game and fell to 8-2 on the season after allowing eight runs (four earned) on 12 hits and struck out five.

The Falcon defense committed two errors in the three-run El Camino third inning, with all three runs being unearned. The big hit was a two-out, two-run double by Kattya Calderon. They're fourth run of the game came on a double-steal where freshman catcher Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS) threw out Kamryn Fisher at second base, but Haley Reed took off for home on the play and scored. Another error led to one of the Warriors runs in the fifth inning.

Caballero accounted for both runs on offense. With one out in the top of the third inning, sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) doubled and scored on a single up the middle by Caballero. The duo teamed up for the Falcons other run when Olivas drew a one-out walk and was plated on a double by Caballero.
