The Cerritos College softball team scored all of their runs in the first three innings, as they posted an 11-2, 5-inning win over host Orange Coast College on Saturday. The Falcons (15-7) will now host first place El Camino College at 3:00 p.m. on Monday in a critical South Coast Conference South Division game.

In the win over the Pirates (4-15), Cerritos scored three times in the top of the first inning. Sophomore outfielder Kimberly Olivas (Warren HS) led the game off with a double down the left field line and moved to third base on a single by sophomore second baseman Kylee Brown (Mayfair HS). Freshman catcher Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS) drove in the team's first run with a base hit, while sophomore shortstop Erica Guzman (Enoch HS/William Jessup University) added a run-scoring single. The third run came home on an infield out by freshman first baseman Lesley Briseno (Cypress HS), which plated Lopez.

The hits kept coming in the next inning, as sophomore outfielder Ashley Melendez (Magnolia HS) led off with a single and advanced to third on the second double in as many innings by Olivas. Sophomore designated player Jissel Caballero (Warren HS) drove in Melendez with a single, with Brown following with a two-run double. In the third inning, Caballero clubbed a three-run home run, with Brown hitting the next pitch for a solo home run. It marked the third game in a row Brown hit a home run, giving her eight for the season, which ties her for third in the state. Her 35 RBI are also the third most in the state.

Sophomore pitcher Kristen Voller (Norco HS) won her eighth game of the season, as she pitched three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit. Caballero tossed the final two innings and surrendered both runs to the Pirates.
