For the first time in school history, the Cerritos College women's tennis team traveled to a school and played three matches in two days. The Falcons, in need of matches, agreed to travel to Bakersfield College, and competed three times over the weekend. They opened with a 6-2 win over College of the Sequoias on Friday and followed that with a 7-2 victory over Antelope Valley College before concluding the day by dropping a 5-4 decision to the host Renegades. Cerritos (2-3) will now host Rio Hondo College in their first home match of the season at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cerritos 6, College of the Sequoias 2: Competing in 42-degree temperatures, which included snow on the drive to Bakersfield, the Falcons earned their first win of the season over the Giants. Cerritos swept the top of the singles ladder and put themselves into position for the win by picking up a fourth win in the #6 position.The trio of freshman Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS), sophomore Cyd Dionson (Western HS) and freshman Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) all won in straight sets at the top, as did sophomore Patricia Espinosa (El Rancho HS/Hope International University). Cerritos also won both doubles matches, with the third unscored due to rain.

Cerritos 7, Antelope Valley 2: With bad weather on the horizon, followed by another match later in the day, the Falcons decided to attack the Marauders in hopes of finishing a quick match. They did just that, as all five singles winners posted straight set victories. Judan opened the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top of the ladder, while Dionson dropped to the #3 position and responded with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Espinosa lost just one game, while Ilagan moved up one position in the ladder and recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win. Freshman Natali Perez (Lakewood HS) held up the bottom of the singles ladder with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Cerritos won a pair of doubles matches, but had to forfeit the #3 match due to an injury to Espinosa.

Bakersfield 5, Cerritos 4: Facing a fresh Bakersfield team, who was also enjoying home court advantage, the Falcons ran out of gas, as they dropped the top two singles matches in three sets. Cerritos still had a chance to pull out the team victory, but dropped two of the three doubles matches. In the #2 position, the team of Dionson and Perez were serving at 5-6 and leading 40-0, but failed to hold and went on to lost, 8-5. Judan and Ilagan also lost in a late break, as Judan was broken at 6-6 and dropped an 8-5 decision. Facing Cal State Bakersfield bounceback Nancy Ramirez in the #1 singles position, Judan opened with a 6-3 win, but went on to lose the next two sets, 6-1, 6-3. Ilagan also went three sets at #2, but was defeated, 1-6, 6-4, 1-6 to Leah Stewart. The bottom half of the ladder saw Dionson (6-2, 6-2), Perez (1-6, 6-1, 6-1) and Espinosa (6-1, 6-1) all record wins. Espinosa and freshman Jessica Alcayde (Cabrillo HS) also picked up a doubles win, 8-4.
