Not knowing they were playing until earlier that same day, the Cerritos College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 non-conference match against Arizona Christian College on Friday. The loss put the Falcons record at 7-9 overall, their third loss in a row, while the team will resume South Coast Conference play on Thursday with a 2:00 p.m. match against visiting Mt. San Antonio College.

At the top of the singles ladder, Cerritos received a pair of wins, as freshmen Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS) and Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) won in straight sets. Judan, returning to full-time action, posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Brianna Lopez, while Ilagan handed Taylor Als a 6-4, 6-4 setback. The two also teamed for a dominant 8-0 win in doubles play.

But that would be the extent of the team's success on the day, as Arizona Christian received two points due to the Falcons only having five available players. Freshman Natali Perez (Lakewood HS) extended her #4 singles match to a third set, but came up short against Tiffany Levin, 6-3, 1-6, 9-11. Perez and sophomore Cyd Dionson (Western HS) were also defeated in doubles, 8-5.
