W. Tennis: Fourth loss in a row suffered by Falcons

Beset by injuries, the Cerritos College women's tennis team suffered their fourth straight loss, as they were defeated by visiting Hardin Simmons (TX) University, 7-2 on Wednesday. The Falcons (7-10) were missing sophomores Cyd Dionson (Western HS) and Patricia Espinosa (El Rancho HS/Hope International University), which resulted in a pair of singles forfeits and one doubles forfeit. The team will resume South Coast Conference play on Thursday at 2:00 p.m when they host Mt. San Antonio College.

Freshman Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS), who is still battling through an injury, recorded a come-from-behind win over Genene Haddad at the top of the singles ladder, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Also winning for the Falcons was freshman Natali Perez (Lakewood HS), who posted a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 win in the #4 position over Tram Le.

Freshmen Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) and Jessica Alcayde (Cabrillo HS), who played through injuries, were swept in their singles matches, and also dropped their doubles competition with their partners.
