With a berth in the South Coast Conference championship at stake, the final Cerritos College singles player and doubles team were defeated on Thursday. Freshman Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS) opened the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over #5-seeded Alvenna Lee of Mt. San Antonio College to reach the semi-finals. But the #4-seeded Judan was defeated by top-seeded Chun Young-Shin of El Camino College, 6-1, 7-5.

Sophomore Cyd Dionson (Western HS) was also a victim of Shin, as she suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss in the quarterfinals before Judan was defeated. In doubles action, Judan and freshman Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) squared off against top-ranked Shin and Sara Choi, but dropped an 8-1 decision in the semi-finals.

Next up for the Falcons will be the Southern California Regional Tournament, which will take place April 25-26 at Ventura College. Representing Cerritos in singles will be Judan and Dionson, while the doubles tandems of Judan and Ilagan will be joined by Dionson and freshman Natali Perez (Lakewood HS).
