The Cerritos College women's tennis team struggled in their match against El Camino, as they dropped an 8-1 South Coast Conference decision on Thursday. The loss put the Falcons at 1-2 in conference play and 6-5 overall. They will now travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday for a 2:00 p.m. match, which will be their third straight game on the road.

An injury to freshman Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS) at the top of the ladder forced her to retire in singles play and the Falcons had to default in their #1 doubles match. Judan dropped the first set to Chung Young Shin, 6-2 and was trailing 2-1 in the second set before having to retire.

The lone victory for Cerritos came in the #4 singles match where sophomore Cyd Dionson (Western HS) handed Heather Shambrey a 6-4, 6-3 decision. The Falcons were swept in the other four singles matches.

Doubles action saw the tandem of Dionson and freshman Natali Perez (Lakewood HS) extend Shambrey and Karin Endo into a super tie-breaker before dropping a 2-6, 6-4, 10-3 match.
