With the return of freshman #1 singles player Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS), the Cerritos College women's tennis team was able to defeat Long Beach City College, 8-1 in a South Coast Conference match on Thursday. Judan, who missed the last match and a half with an injury, returned to play singles and defeated Sierra Prewitt, 6-0, 6-1, which helped the Falcons on their way to a win. The team was supposed to travel to Palomar College for a non-conference match on Friday, but it was postponed due to wet weather. Cerritos (7-6, 2-3) will now host El Camino College at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Even with her convincing singles win, Judan was held out of doubles play. It didn't hurt the Falcons on the day because the Vikings had only four players competing. Freshman Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) posted a 6-1, 6-2 win, while sophomore Cyd Dionson (Western HS) shut out Gaby Zarate, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Dionson and freshman Natali Perez (Lakewood HS) recorded an 8-2, with sophomore Patricia Espinosa (El Rancho HS/Hope International University) and freshman Jessica Alcayde (Cabrillo HS) held off Zarate and Maria Toledo, 8-5. Long Beach City defaulted two singles matches and one doubles match.
