Freshman outfielder Joanna Perruccio (Long Beach Wilson HS) used her speed in the outfield to run down fly balls for the Cerritos College softball team during the 2014 season. But it was on the base paths where she earned national recognition. She led the state with 44 stolen bases, which earned her the Golden Shoe Award by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. She is the second Falcon player to earn the award, as Capree Williams led the state in stolen bases in 2008 with a school record 48.

Perruccio, who earned 1st Team All-South Coast Conference honors, was primed to break the school record, but did not steal a base in the last five games. She had 44 stolen bases and was caught seven times on the year. It was her .415 batting average from the leadoff position, along with 29 walks, that put her on base enough to set the state standard in stolen bases. Perruccio stole a season-high four bases against Los Angeles Harbor College, and had three swipes in four other games. Perruccio stole her 44th base in her 39th game, but did not get another in the final five games.

Heading into her sophomore season, Perruccio needs just five stolen bases to break the career record, as Williams played just one season for the Falcons.
