The Cerritos College softball team had just eight hits in their 10-0 South Coast Conference win over Long Beach City College on Tuesday. Assisting the Falcons (27-8, 15-2) were four Viking errors, which led to three unearned runs. The win maintained the team's first place hold in the conference with four games remaining. Cerritos will now travel to East Los Angeles College on Thursday for a 3:00 p.m. game. The Huskies handed the Falcons one of their two conference losses.

In the win over LBCC (18-16, 8-9), a pair of first inning walks led to an RBI single by freshman catcher Krystal Purkey (Gahr HS) to open the scoring. Sophomore outfielder Danah Vasquez (Santa Fe HS) followed with a fly ball that Long Beach City center fielder Amanda Sandoval dropped, which allowed two more runs to score.

Sophomore pitcher Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS), who drove in a pair of runs with a base hit in the fourth inning, limited the Vikings to just one hit in her four innings in the circle to earn her 15th win of the season. She walked the lead-off batter, but retired the next 10 hitters before Mary Gonzales singled with one out in the fourth inning. It would turn out to be the lone hit on the day for LBCC.

At the plate, Purkey had a pair of hits and drove in two runs, as did sophomore first baseman Haley Whitney (Warren HS). Ramirez and Vasquez each had a pair of RBI in the win.
