The Cerritos College softball team used a pair of big home runs to help highlight their 14-1 South Coast Conference win over Los Angeles Harbor College on Tuesday at Nancy Kelly Field. The Falcons (8-5, 5-1) will now travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Thursday with first place on the line. In their first meeting, Cerritos handed the Mounties a 10-2 loss in six innings, with the game ending on a Stephanie Olivas (Warren HS) grand slam.

Olivas was presented with a pair of bases loaded opportunities against the Seahawks (0-13, 0-6) on Tuesday, and responded with her second grand slam of the season in the third inning. She followed that in the fourth by drawing a bases loaded walk to bring home the final run of the game for Cerritos.

Getting a chance to play extended innings was freshman Roxanna Jensen (Havre, MT HS) and in her first at-bat, she blasted a three-run home run to put the Falcons ahead, 7-1. Jensen added a pair of walks in her next two plate appearances and scored another run. Sophomore Danah Vasquez (Santa Fe HS) collected a pair of hits, scored two runs and stole two bases, with sophomore Ariana Mejia (Gahr HS) contributing an RBI double and a single, as the Falcons had just 10 hits on the day.

Sophomore Kat Flores (El Rancho HS) picked up her second win in as many days, as she went 3 1/3 innings while allowing one run on five hits. Freshman Monique Ramirez (Torrance HS), who started the game at second base, pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and did not allow a hit, while she added a single, stolen base and run scored at the plate.
