Trailing 4-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning, the Cerritos College softball team scored five runs to pull out a 7-4 South Coast Conference win over El Camino College on Thursday. The win allowed the Falcons (29-10, 17-3) to remain in a tie for first place in the South Coast Conference with one regular season game remaining. Cerritos concludes their regular season on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. when they host Los Angeles Harbor College (2-31, 0-20), while East Los Angeles College (28-8, 17-3) finishes with a home game against Pasadena City College (13-24, 5-15).

In the five-run seventh inning, sophomore third baseman Ariana Mejia (Gahr HS) and sophomore shortstop Stephanie Olivas (Warren HS) both singled, while sophomore first baseman Haley Whitney (Warren HS) reached on an error to load the bases. Sophomore outfielder Arianna Hernandez (Santa Fe HS) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to get the team to within 4-3 with two outs. Freshman catcher Haley Petruccelli (Torrance HS) followed with a two-run double to give the Falcons the lead, with freshman second baseman Monique Ramirez (Torrance HS) following with a run-scoring single. After another Warrior error kept the inning alive, sophomore outfielder Danah Vasquez (Santa Fe HS) closed out the scoring with an RBI single.

Sophomore pitcher Kat Flores (El Rancho HS), who came on in relief of sophomore starter Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS), allowed a base hit in the bottom of the stanza, but shut down El Camino to improve her record to 12-2 on the year. Flores pitched 2 1/3 innings and surrendered just two hits.

El Camino took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a three-run home run from Marissa Padilla.

On the day, Vasquez and Monique Ramirez each had a pair of hits, while freshman outfielder Joanna Perruccio (Long Beach Wilson HS) collected three hits, drew a walk and stole a base.
