After opening the Southern California Super Regional with a win over #1-seeded Palomar College, the Cerritos College softball team dropped a pair of games the next day to see their season come to an end. The Falcons (33-12) were defeated by Santiago Canyon College (5-3) and then saw Santa Ana College score four runs in the seventh and another in the eighth to post a 7-6 win that ended the year.

Santiago Canyon 5, Cerritos 3: The Falcons opened the scoring against the Hawks (36-6) in the second inning when sophomore shortstop Stephanie Olivas (Warren HS) doubled and came home on a wild pitch. On her double, sophomore outfielder Arianna Hernandez (Santa Fe HS) was thrown out at the plate trying to score. Cerritos committed two errors in the fourth inning that led to four Santiago Canyon runs, while they picked up an insurance run in the sixth inning against sophomore Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS). In her 5 2/3 innings, Ramirez (19-9) allowed six hits and struck out four batters, with only two of the five runs being earned. The Falcons made it a close game in the bottom of the seventh inning, as freshman pinch-hitter Haley Petruccelli (Torrance HS) doubled in a pair of runs. Sophomore third baseman Ariana Mejia (Gahr HS), the team's leader in home runs, RBI and batting average, had a chance to keep the game going, but she grounded out to end the game.

Santa Ana 7, Cerritos 6 (8 innings): Facing a team they had already lost to three times on the season, the Falcons took an early 4-0 lead on a three-run home run from Ramirez, followed by a solo home run from Petruccelli. That chased starting pitcher Lindsey Esparza in favor of Frances Compoy. Cerritos collected just five hits off Compoy (11-2) over the next six innings before scoring two more times for what appeared to be a convincing 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. But the Dons (36-9) managed four runs off Ramirez and sophomore Kat Flores (El Rancho HS) to extend the game. In that inning, they had three doubles and a triple before winning the game in the bottom of the eighth inning when Emily Whitecavage drilled a ball into center field. Hernandez, looking to play the bal, slipped and fell, and before she could recover, Whitecavage had raced around the bases for the game-winning run.
